I graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in 1987. After vet school, I found myself in the Charleston, SC area, where I eventually established my foundational practice in the Charleston suburb of Mt. Pleasant. I've been practicing small animal medicine and surgery here for over 30 years. I've always been guided by the principles that are foundational to SynergyVet today: quality medicine, excellent customer service, modern professional hospitals, and attention to sound veterinary business practices. I firmly believe that our industry can only thrive when veterinarians are the ultimate decision-makers.

I've been happily married to my wife, Jennifer, for over 30 years, and together, we have three wonderful daughters, sons-in-law, and grandchildren. In my free time, I enjoy boating, snow skiing, various sports, savoring good food and drinks, and, above all, spending time with my family and friends.

In 2002, after I graduated from Auburn University's College of Veterinary Medicine, I was convinced I would become a boarded small animal surgeon. Six months into my internship, I realized that my true passion was found in general practice. I knew I wanted to own my practice, but I didn't know anything about finding a location, hiring the best team, designing a hospital, or managing people. Thankfully, just before I graduated, I did a preceptorship with Dr. Scott Senf in Charleston, SC. I saw something different in his practice that I had not seen in any other veterinary practice. The hospital was clean, smelled good, and had all updated equipment. The level of care was impressive, and the team loved what they were doing. After a little begging, I convinced Scott to take a chance on me. He helped me open Park West Veterinary Associates in 2003 and mentored me on how to make a practice grow, succeed, and impact the community. He still mentors me, but now it is on being a father and husband. As we watched the landscape of veterinary medicine change over the last ten years, we decided to repeat the process he provided me twenty years ago. We want to help entrepreneurial veterinarians become owners of thriving community practices that grow people and care for animals.

After spending 35 years in finance and operations, I can truly say my partnership with SynergyVet is the most rewarding and exciting endeavor to date. My career experience as both a chief financial officer and chief operations officer includes mergers and acquisitions, managing and restructuring finance departments and risk management. For nearly 20 years, I have owned and operated a multi-unit franchise and its administration including human resources, information technology and supply chain reengineering.

I have been married to my wife, Trina for almost 33 years. We have two grown daughters and one granddaughter. We have made Mount Pleasant our home for nearly twenty years where it has been my privilege to serve our community both locally and internationally through our church and non-profit affiliations as both a board member and officer. It is my greatest hope that the practice opportunities I help to create for our SynergyVet partners will change the landscape of veterinary medicine, and in turn, facilitate rewarding opportunities to serve all of our communities.

My veterinary path started in 1990 (6th grade) with a school paper titled “what I want to be when I grow up”. With my parents’ encouragement, that school project soon led to my first volunteer position at a local veterinary clinic in Memphis, TN. From there, determination and open doors led me to Auburn University for undergraduate studies and then veterinary school, graduating with my DVM degree in 2003. After graduation, my wife and I returned to the Memphis area, where I practiced as an associate under my mentor for nearly four years before branching out to open my first start-up veterinary clinic in 2007. Since 2007, I have gone on to start and manage two additional veterinary clinics in the greater Memphis area. My wife and I were both raised in Memphis, and it is where we and our three children still call home. I am extremely proud that SynergyVet is energized and highly motivated to provide unique ownership opportunities to aspiring and driven DVMs. I am also thrilled that our model is creating career-level leadership opportunities within our organization for exceptional members of our support staffs. I am confident that our SynergyVet model will provide an extremely positive impact on our profession as well as our local communities.

After graduating from North Carolina State University with a Business Management degree, I was unsure of my career path. I was introduced to veterinary medicine by Dr. Scott Senf at Animal Medical Center in Charleston, SC. I was hired as an assistant, trained as a veterinary technician, and became a practice manager at one of his hospitals. After several years, I transitioned to the pharmaceutical industry as a Bayer Animal Health and Elanco sales representative. Working with hundreds of hospitals over 20+ years allowed me to have a front-row seat in the best hospitals. What were they doing? What made them stand out? I am excited to share those experiences with our veterinary partners and help them grow as leaders, veterinarians, and owners. Community practices can thrive; they are thriving, and we are thriving.
